NeuroEdge Psychological Services is currently a virtual-only California psychology/neuropsychology practice. Telehealth may be used for consultation, intake, clinical interviews, feedback sessions, psychotherapy when offered, care coordination, administrative meetings, and other services when clinically appropriate and legally permitted. Some neuropsychological, psychological, or forensic evaluation components may require careful determination of whether virtual delivery is clinically valid, test-appropriate, legally permitted, and ethically appropriate.


Telehealth Is Not Appropriate for Every Situation

Telehealth may not be appropriate for every person, clinical presentation, evaluation question, test instrument, legal/forensic context, safety concern, technology limitation, privacy situation, or jurisdictional circumstance. NeuroEdge may determine that services should be provided differently, postponed, referred, or discontinued if telehealth is not appropriate.


Informed Consent for Telehealth

Before initiating telehealth services, NeuroEdge will obtain and document informed consent for telehealth. Telehealth consent may include discussion of confidentiality and security risks, data storage policies and procedures, possible technology disruptions, insurance coverage considerations, limits and differences between in-person and telehealth services, the patient’s physical location, emergency planning, and other reasonably anticipated telehealth issues.


Location, Jurisdiction, and Emergency Planning

Patients, clients, examinees, or legal representatives may be asked to confirm the physical location where they will receive telehealth services at the time of the appointment. NeuroEdge may also request an emergency contact and local emergency resource information. Services are offered only where legally permitted under California law and, when applicable, the laws of any other jurisdiction where the patient/client/examinee or provider is located.


Technology Platforms

NeuroEdge intends to use Spruce to send telehealth appointment links and Office Ally for scheduling, documents, EHR/practice management, and insurance claim submission. Platform access instructions may vary depending on the service. Patients are responsible for arranging a private location, reliable internet connection when possible, and a device suitable for the service being provided.


Privacy During Telehealth

Patients should participate in telehealth appointments from a private location where others cannot overhear the session unless the presence of another person has been discussed and permitted. Patients should not record sessions unless expressly authorized in advance and consistent with applicable law and clinical/legal requirements.


No Emergency Services

Telehealth appointment links, voicemail, SMS/text messaging, secure messaging, and online scheduling are not emergency resources.
